Representatives of the Mazovian Office of Regional Planning in Warsaw (MBPR) attended the annual PLUS Change project partners’ meeting, which this year took place in Paris, on 11-13 May. The event was organised by the Global Change Research Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CzechGlobe) and the region of Île-de-France. The program included a meeting of the project’s practise cases, a general assembly of consortium representatives, and a mini-conference featuring presentations of the project’s results to date.
During the meeting, the team reviewed the activities completed so far and discussed the tasks planned for the upcoming months. The PLUS Change project is entering its final phase, which brings additional challenges. The partners discussed priorities for the project’s final year and ways to use the experience gained.
The program also included a study visit to La Végétale. This is a 20-kilometer shared route for cyclists and pedestrians that leads through open spaces located in the southeast of Paris. It was created as part of an environmental compensation project in connection with the construction of the TGV railway. Participants were introduced to the framework of regional policy regarding the maintenance of green spaces around Paris and the activities of
Île-de-France Nature – the institution responsible for implementing this policy. One of the highlights of the study visit was a ride on the cable car (C1 Câble), which opened in 2025 and operates as part of the urban transport system, significantly improving transport links between the suburbs and Paris.
Besides its direct contribution to the realisation of the PLUS Change project, the event provided a unique space for dialogue and peer-to-peer learning. Participation in the event allowed for gaining insight into the perspectives of partners from other European countries, different approaches to spatial management and the implementation of sustainable development policies, as well as specific institutional conditions. This represents a significant value of MBPR’s participation in the project.
